Allwyn aimed to strengthen its internal capabilities in data migration testing.
The key objective was to prepare the Testing and Data Management teams for complex projects where migration is not just about moving data, but about transforming the entire technology and process landscape.
Our solution
We designed and delivered a half-day workshop led by senior QA experts from Principal, sharing hands-on experience from large-scale transformation projects, particularly in the banking sector.
The workshop was built around real-world scenarios and covered the full migration lifecycle:
- understanding the true scope of migration (data, applications, integrations, processes),
- defining migration and testing strategies,
- working with data quality and data transformation,
- overview of testing approaches, from data validation to end-to-end scenarios,
- managing critical migration phases (cutover, rollback),
- ensuring system stability after go-live.
The workshop also included practical recommendations on automation and the use of AI in testing and data-related activities.
Know-how we shared
A key focus of the workshop was on effective team setup and collaboration during data migration.
We highlighted in particular:
- defining the right size and composition of the testing team based on project scope and complexity,
- clearly defining roles and responsibilities in testing and quality assurance,
- aligning IT and business teams and involving key users,
- enabling effective cross-team collaboration (development, infrastructure, vendors),
- ensuring proper capacity planning, communication, and coordination.
We also emphasized that every migration is unique and requires a tailored approach based on the organization’s environment, data, and processes.

As a result of the workshop, Allwyn teams gained:
- a clearer understanding of migration risks and critical points,
- practical guidance on setting up testing and quality management,
- hands-on insights applicable to real projects,
- greater confidence in planning and executing data migration.
